For all of you, but especially for you AP World kiddies, you should be thinking about how to use the GoogleSite and the glossary.  Download this handout or look at the instructions below.

Instructions for Setting Up and Using the GoogleSite

1. Go to www.gmail.com.
2. Click on ‘Create an Account.’
3. Enter your REAL first and last name and the other information.
4. When you pick your desired Login Name, please stick with some variation of your own name and not nicknames like HottPinky2009. J
5. Create your password and a security question.
6. A good password has letters, numbers, AND symbols, so get creative! Don’t share this with others!
7. Your security question should be something you absolutely will not forget!
8. Agree to the Terms of Service and click Create!
9. Play around with your new Gmail account and have fun!

Instructions for Contributing to the Glossary

1. When you are done creating your Gmail account, email me at miss.siarny@gmail.com.
2. I will add you to the Ms. Siarny GoogleSite and give you permission to edit the Glossary page.
3. You will get an email that you have been added as a collaborator.
4. At that point, go up to the top of your Gmail page and click on Sites.
5. Click on Ms. Siarny History.
6. On the left, click on the glossary page for your class.
7. Up at the right, then click on “Edit Page.”
8. Hit “Add item.”
9. A small blue box will appear.
10. Here, you should enter a word that you were unfamiliar with from the summer reading.
11. Use www.merriam-webster.com to find the Part of Speech and the Definition.
12. Fill in the fields in the small blue box.
13. Hit Save.
14. Go back up to the top right and hit Save again.
15. Voila! You have added to the Glossary.
